Before joining Smarty, Molly studied computer science at BYU, where she first met the team through the Women in Computer Science (WICS) Club. After attending a Smarty Lunch and Learn, she didn’t just leave inspired—she applied the second there was a job posting. What drew her in was a company that reflected her own values of curiosity, creativity, and genuine human connection.
Molly’s love of coding sparked early, thanks to her engineer dad, who taught her and her siblings how to solve problems and build things that matter. (He must be a great teacher because both she and one of her brothers fell in love and are both engineers today.) Molly's dad nudged her into her first coding class in high school and even sent her to a summer coding camp, where she discovered the joy of watching her ideas come to life and then be used by others.
Outside of work, Molly channels that same focus and joy into the gym, swimming, and crocheting—often to the beat of rap music. She believes everyone’s on their own journey of growth, herself included, and she’s driven by authenticity, curiosity, and a passion for discovering what’s next.
