OREM, UT, Jan 27, 2026—Smarty®, an expert in address data intelligence, today announced a three-part release designed to help organizations turn messy, fast-changing location data into operational confidence. The January 2026 bundle introduces: 1) A brand-new parcel dataset, 2) Expands provisional address programs into core U.S. products, and 3) Upgrades Smarty’s International Geocoding engine—giving organizations more precision and more usable signals for automation at scale.

January 2026 release highlights

New product: US Parcel Boundary Data

US Parcel Boundary Data is a standardized dataset that delivers precise parcel geometry at the county, state, and national levels. Available for download in a variety of modern formats, it also includes 110+ parcel attributes, including parcel number, acreage, and zoning description. 

US Parcel Boundary Data also includes SmartyKey®, a persistent, unique identifier that allows customers to tie parcels to validated addresses and blend records across Smarty's tools and third-party data sources.

US Parcel Boundary Data delivers normalized and up-to-date parcel boundaries that anyone can plug directly into their GIS and analytics workflows.”

New feature: Provisional addresses now available for US Address Verification and US Autocomplete

Provisional addresses are now available for US Address Verification and US Autocomplete. Provisional addresses help customers handle legitimate addresses—often new builds—that haven’t yet been fully incorporated into authoritative datasets. Customers can submit a short list of missing addresses to Smarty for verification using authoritative sources. Approved records are added to Smarty’s U.S. data subscriptions and typically appear in API results at no additional cost.

This feature requires no additional client-side integration changes. Provisional addresses are available as a non-postal address in both US Address Verification and US Address Autocomplete. 

To become a trusted provisional address submitter, contact Smarty Support. Upon acceptance of the Provisional Addresses terms, authorized teams can submit a CSV or Excel file for review and approval. 

International upgrades: Smarty’s International Geocoding engine

A new flag for International Geocoding, called “geocode-classification,” will now categorize each returned geocode. Available for 250 countries and territories, the flag indicates interpolated, multiple-point averages, and single-point geocodes.

Additionally, a new precision level, "PostalCode," has been added to the geocode-precision field in International Geocoding. This field is now available starting in Canada and Great Britain. It provides a more precise area than the "Locality" (city) geocode, but is broader than a thoroughfare (street) geocode.

To access this new value, follow the instructions in the International Geocoding documentation. This new update includes more precise geocodes, and users who implement this flag will see greater accuracy in their responses.

Availability and next steps

US Parcel Boundary Data, Provisional Addresses for US Address Verification and US Address Autocomplete, and the latest International Geocoding upgrades are available now for eligible plans and customers. Smarty's support and customer success teams are available to help customers enable these enhancements through bundling, access, and best-practice implementation.

Smarty customers avoid USPS rate limiting

TLDR: Smarty customers won’t feel a thing from the new USPS API restrictions because Smarty doesn’t depend on USPS’s real-time APIs to do address verification. We’ve always used our own, powerful, hyper-accurate data to back our tools and support client needs. While USPS is capping its address verification service at 60 requests per hour and retiring the legacy Web Tools API on January 25, Smarty keeps verifying addresses at full speed on our own infrastructure. We ingest USPS data updates monthly and run verification internally, so USPS API changes, rate limits, or even a temporary USPS outage don’t ripple into your workflows.
