I know this address is correct. Can you add it to your database?

Question

I have an address which I know is correct. Your system says it isn't a valid address. Is there any way to add it to your address database?

Answer: YES! Hello, Provisional Addresses

Smarty’s address data is primarily based on the United States Postal Service database, along with additional, valid non-USPS address data sources. While these sources are regularly updated, new construction and other address changes can take time to appear in traditional address databases.

To give you even more accurate data to work with, Smarty offers a provisional address submission process. Customers can submit new construction or missing addresses to Smarty for review.

Our team verifies submitted records using authoritative data sources and, if approved, incorporates them into our U.S. address data.

Once processed, approved addresses typically begin appearing in API results as non-postal records. There’s no additional cost, and no integration changes are required.

How to submit provisional addresses

Step 1: Submit address data

After signing the required addendum, customers may submit address data to Smarty via this technical support form or by contacting their Customer Success Manager.

Step 2: Data intake and review

Submitted files are reviewed by Smarty to ensure they meet basic completeness and formatting requirements. If clarification or adjustments are needed, Smarty will notify the customer who submitted the additions.

Once the file meets submission requirements, it’ll be moved into the verification workflow.

*Smarty reserves the right to decline processing submissions that don’t meet quality standards or that repeatedly fail to meet submission guidelines.

Step 3: Address validation and standardization

Submitted addresses undergo internal validation.

If an address meets Smarty’s data standards, it’ll be standardized and incorporated into the appropriate dataset.

Not all submitted addresses will qualify for inclusion.

Step 4: Availability in the API

Approved addresses will become available in the API after processing is complete.

Customers will only be contacted if additional information is required during processing.
